Over the past eight years The Access Collaboration Ltd has been successful in building an access consultancy practice specialising in the Health, Education and Heritage sectors.
Current clients include the National Trust, Canterbury City Council where there has been a recent audit of Council buildings and we are now embarking on a schedule of audits across the district.
In August we were thrilled to be appointed as access consultants for the new Beaney Museum, Library and Gallery project being undertaken by Canterbury City Council and Kent County Council.
Recent contracts have included a £6.2m new build and refurbishment projects for West Kent NHS and Social Care Trust. Our team has undertaken audit, sign surveys and new-build for Canterbury Christ Church University. Recent contracts have involved Access Auditing, preparation of Access Plans for Heritage Lottery Fund bids, preparation of Design and Access Statements for building control, and consultation on new build and major refurbishment projects.
The Access Collaborations have received commissions from a number of Churches, Arts venues, Museums and Galleries to assist project teams in improving the quality of the audience experience through application of the principles of Inclusive Design where we offer an understanding of the barriers to access through wide consultation with users who are, or feel excluded from, wider community activity.
Recent consultations have been conducted at Tyntesfield a £20m HLF project where local groups were involved in a number of consultation events and a number of sessions with disabled staff and students at Canterbury Christ Church University is ongoing.
