Promoting excellence in access to education
The Access Collaboration has been involved in a number of building projects both large and small.
One recent commission has been to work with architects and the design team in the major redevelopment of a city-centre site for Canterbury College. This has been a £54m project managed over 3 phases involving local staff, students, College Disability advisors, the student support teams and property management staff. The Access Collaboration have produced Design and Access Statements for Local Authority Planning and Access Statements for Building Control. Input has been given to the selection of finishes, surfaces and product and to the provision of lifts and systems for emergency alert systems and evacuation procedures.
